INFO PLANET is the home of Lynn Wyeth, an experienced information governance practitioner with 12 years service at the coalface.
Lynn was born in York but moved to Leicester over 20 years ago. A love of politics resulted in a Masters degree in European Politics. Having previously worked for a Member of European Parliament, a Member of the UK parliament and a county council as a political assistant, Lynn moved to her local unitary council where she oversees the whole of the Council’s Information Governance agenda.
Lynn holds a post graduate diploma in Information Rights and regularly speaks at and chairs national conferences. She also holds the BCS ISEB in Data Protection, the BCS ISEB in Freedom of Information, the Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) and the HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioners (HCISPP) accreditation.
She is the author of two books ( 'A Practical Guide to Handling Freedom of Information Requests', and 'Data Protection: Compliance in Practice') and has contributed to a new book 'Freedom Fighters or Lazy Journalism: Critical reflections on freedom of information' edited by John Mair and Tom Felle which was released in February 2015.
Lynn is an editorial board member and contributor to the PDP Freedom of Information Journal, and an examiner for their accredited courses.
She was also a Vice Chair of the ESRC-funded Administrative Data Research Network (ADRN) considering use of data in research proposals for three years.
Lynn is a member of the Open Rights Group and NADPO.
Lynn is a trainer for Act Now Ltd, and is currently delivering the GDPR Certificate amongst other courses on their behalf.
Lynn is currently undertaking a PhD at De Montfort University on the use by the media, polticians and pressure groups of the Freedom of Information Act in local government, and any resulting unintended consequences.
